Trade with Congress

Privacy Policy

What Trade With Congress collects about you, why, and how to get rid of it.

Effective August 10, 2026 · DataInterview LLC

The short version

There are no accounts and no logins. We collect an email address only if you subscribe to the newsletter, and anonymous usage statistics through Google Analytics. We do not sell anything to anyone, ever.

The disclosures on this site are not personal data we collected

Most of what this site publishes concerns members of Congress, not visitors. That information comes from mandatory public filings those members made themselves, published by the House Clerk and the Senate Office of Public Records. We are republishing a public record, not building a profile.

Members who believe a figure about them is wrong can write to hello@danleesolo.com. Every row on the site links to its source document, so corrections can be checked against the original.

What we collect from you

Newsletter. If you subscribe we store your email address, the page you subscribed from, and the times you confirmed and were last sent an email. We use it for one thing: sending the weekly digest. Confirmation is required, so you are never added without an explicit click.

Analytics. Google Analytics records which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors come from, and which referrers send traffic. It sets cookies and processes your IP address. We use it to understand which pages are worth maintaining.

Server logs. Our host records standard request logs, including IP addresses, for security and reliability.

We do not collect payment details, we have no user accounts, and we do not track you across other websites.

Cookies, and a current limitation

Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish repeat visits. Nothing else on this site sets a cookie — there are no advertising, profiling, or cross-site tracking cookies.

We do not currently show a cookie consent banner. If you are in the EU or UK, that means analytics cookies are set before you have had the chance to refuse them. We are addressing this. In the meantime you can block them with your browser's cookie settings, or with Google's opt-out add-on, and the site works normally without them.

Who else handles it

We use a small number of service providers, each doing one job:

ProviderPurposeWhat it sees
VercelWebsite hosting and deliveryIP address, request logs
SupabaseDatabase hostingNewsletter email addresses
Google AnalyticsWebsite analyticsCookies, IP address, pages viewed
ResendNewsletter deliveryEmail address, delivery events

We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not share it for advertising. We will disclose information if legally compelled to.

How long we keep it

Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe, after which the record is marked unsubscribed so we do not accidentally re-add you; write to us if you want it deleted outright. Analytics data follows Google's retention settings. Server logs are short-lived and controlled by our host.

Your choices

Unsubscribing takes one click, from the link in the footer of every email. No confirmation step, no “are you sure”.

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it corrected, or ask for it deleted, by writing to hello@danleesolo.com. Depending on where you live you may have these rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, or the CCPA; we honour such requests regardless of where you are. Given how little we hold — usually just an email address — this is normally quick.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

We may update this policy; the effective date above changes when we do. Material changes affecting subscribers will be announced in the newsletter.
